Welcome to Food Allergy Parent Education Group 

Our group welcomes families with newly diagnosed infants, to those preparing to send their teens to college. Whether you are managing one food allergy or many, we encourage you to join us.  We are an empathetic resource for newly diagnosed families.

Our group is affiliated with the Asthma Allergy Association of America (www.aafa.org) and our medical adviser is Sean McKnight, M.D., FAAAAI, FACAAI (www.allergypartners.com/nevada). With the help of local experts in food allergy and related fields, we offer speaker meetings at St. Rose Dominican Hospitals in Henderson and Las Vegas.  We offer informal parent and family meetings/events, as well.  We work to increase community awareness and understanding of food allergies by leading and participating in trainings,  health fairs, community events, etc.  We brought the Food Allergy Research & Education (FARE) Walk for Food Allergy to Las Vegas in 2009, which is still going strong due to the dedication of numerous FAPE parents who volunteer to plan and/or participate in the FARE Walk.  We have been actively advocating within Clark County School District since our inception in 2008- championing  many critical improvements, staff trainings, and policy reforms for the management of food allergies within our public schools.  Currently, FAPE is representing our local parents on FARE/CCSD’s committee for developing district-wide food allergy guidelines.  We advocate for laws protecting our state’s children and serve on the Nevada Food Allergy Anaphylaxis Alliance (NFAAA) currently working towards the passage of SB453- Stock Epinephrine In Schools.  Our website’s News page helps keep families informed of the latest media related to food allergy research, lifestyle, advocacy efforts, and more.  We send periodic emails to our members to help keep them informed of what is going on in the food allergy world and with FAPE.
